Many congratulations to LAKPA vice chair, Tarsem Paul, who was nominated by the Bedfordshire Hospitals Trust to receive a Bedfordshire Hero badge, as well as one of the Christmas letters from the Princess of Wales and a selection of Christmas treats as a recognition of his unstinting work across the community, but particularly in his role supporting kidney patients and organ donation.

The ceremony at a carol service yesterday in St Mary’s Church, Luton was one of a number taking place across the country, simultaneously with that at Westminster Abbey, to provide a moment for people to come together and celebrate community work during the festive season. Hosted by the Lord Lieutenant, and supported by William and Kate’s Royal Foundation, the event in Luton was tailored to the local community and included elements of the Westminster Abbey service – including Kate’s letter. Tarsem was completely unaware that he had been nominated and had been unsure why people were so insistent that he attend the service, he said ‘I was overwhelmed to find that I had been nominated and humbled that my commitment to the community has been recognised in this way
